On this episode of Football Date Night, Melissa and Date recounted the epic round of championship games and looked forward to the Super Bowl clash between the Rams and Patriots. Both were depressed that the Patriots took down the Chiefs, depriving the nation from seeing Patrick Mahomes on the biggest stage, but Melissa expressed some appreciation for the Patriots’ longevity. Dave wasn’t as appreciative and questioned why the Chiefs didn’t blitz Tom Brady more. Melissa was more upset about the end of the Saints-Rams game, which was tainted by a blown pass interference non-call that could have sealed the game for the Saints, and she pondered whether anything could be done to change PI rules. The duo agreed, however, about the greatness of Greg (“the leg”) Zuerlein and Tony Romo's amazing predictive abilities. Looking ahead to the Super Bowl, Melissa waived the white flag on betting against the Patriots (who have started out as 2 point favorites) while Dave thinks the Rams have the overall talent edge. The duo ended by soliciting suggestions for a real date night in the offseason (something sporty, of course).
