There is a certain nostalgia within German culture for aspects of life in the former East Germany (the GDR), a phenomenon referred to as Ostalgie. This nostalgia certainly extends to the now-defunct DDR-Oberliga, and its scattered teams of the past. Possibly the most romantic of these teams, and certainly the one which made the biggest splash on the outside world, is one you might never even have heard of.
