Matthew O’Connor is the co-founder and CEO of AdQuick, a marketplace for buying and selling outdoor advertising.

Matt grew up in Washington D.C. and attended the University of Notre Dame to study political science. After realizing he had a passion for business, he decided to forgo going to law school to start a company called Footprint Free.

To further his pursuit of business, Matt enrolled at the University of Virginia for his MBA. In this episode, he shares his experiences and the lessons he learned while going to business school, as well as his thoughts on if it’s a good investment.

His first business ultimately didn’t end up working out so Matt went on to be an early employee at Instacart, working with the team to launch new markets and improve existing ones.

After leaving Instacart, Matt worked at Amazon in Seattle for a brief time before moving to Los Angeles to start AdQuick in 2016.

Matt talks about what inspired the idea for AdQuick, the early challenges he’s had to face, raising his first 2 rounds of funding (investors include Alexis Ohanian’s Initialized Capital and Tony Hsieh’s VTF Capital), and thoughts on the future of advertising.
