The Front Row talks with Doug Beal, former CEO of USA Volleyball and head coach of the U.S. men’s 1984 Olympic gold medal team, about whether volleyball needs to tinker with its rules to attract a wider audience.

In the first of a three-part series, Beal offers his views on why the sport should consider the following changes: using a clock, eliminating open-hand tipping and allowing front-row players to block anything they can reach, even if it’s while the setter is handling the ball.
