Since their inception in 1987, the Brisbane Bears were an encapsulation of everything that was ham-fisted about the league’s expansion.  Despite the best efforts of those trying their best, the Bears kitsch beginnings, gawky jumpers and dodgy ownership were as damaging as their routine thumpings and anaemic crowds.

The appointment of champion player and premiership coach Robert Walls was the first step to the respect the club craved, and in 1993 - with a move from Carrara to the Gabba in Brisbane - the first meaningful seeds were sown towards the side that would well within a decade turn into a juggernaut. Then for the ride that year - and for one year only - the Bears also had the services of a 20-year-old wunderkind by the name of Nathan Buckley.

The Greatest Season That Was: 93 documents our contention that in 1993, footy was never better. Hosted by Adam Collins, Dan Brettig and Shannon Gill, this series is an in-depth exploration of one amazing season.
