The history of women's health and medicine for women has been turbulent, violent and a means to control women's body. Whilst much has improved and modern medicine assigns a relative degree of choice and equity to women, its routes are still sullied by its colonial past. In this episode, Mim and Sara speak to Dr. Elinor Cleghorn about the evolution of women's health. We touch on its colonial past, the horrific practises that were deemed acceptable, and how many archaic ideas are still deeply entrenched in modern medicine. We specifically look at Anglo-American medical systems, and how they've been influenced by other European notions and have developed over time.
