“To say that one is longing for darkness is to say that one longs for transformation, for a darkness that brings balance, wholeness, integration, wisdom, insight.” - China Galland

The Dark Mothers are goddesses of death and rebirth both, fertility and winter, fear and survival. We’ll meet with several today, beginning with an homage to the African origins of this lineage, which have long been erased or repressed through colonialism and racism. As we sit with the Dark Mother's medicine of profound transformation, we'll consider what that means for us as we crave radical shifts within ourselves and our communities.Included are historical prayers to the Dark Mother, my own offering in honor of Mother’s Night, and, at the end, a personal tale of devotion.
