Chief Mark Henderson has 34 years of law enforcement experience. He has held a variety of positions in the Brighton Police Department including Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and in July 2010 he became the Chief of Police. Upon his retirement, Mark has taken on his new role with the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester which includes working with congregations on security procedures and protocols, facility security assessments, and working to instill a culture of security community-wide.   He is also tasked with working with locations that have security vulnerabilities by identifying funding sources to help remediate the deficiencies. 

In this episode of The Helping Conversation, Mark shares his vast experience and expertise on the ways in which law enforcement professionals bring their own unique strategies to The Helping Conversation including community relationship building, an understanding of mental health issues and their need for self-care. In his present role, Mark shares all that he is doing to create trust and safety within his relationship across constituent groups by listening deeply, asking questions and being open to learning about and celebrating cultural/religious diversity.
