Hello hustlers, today I have Juan Castillo joining me. Juan is the founder and CEO of GuruWalk, which is the world’s leading platform for tip-based tours. Coming from Spain and having lived in Berlin and the US for a few years - Juan was very interested in the opportunities in the travel sector. The tipping point was when he discovered his home country Spain, was named the number one travel destination for tourists in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018.
He wanted to build a business that would further enrich Spain’s travel industry and help everyday people conduct their own walking tours. That’s how GuruWalk started in 2017.
Fast forward 2 years, GuruWalk has managed to establish these tours in 88 countries around the world. The monthly number of walkers (GuruWalk’s version of tour guides) has grown to over 70,000 and continues to rise. I think this is just the beginning of a new form of tourism and I’m really excited to speak to Juan in this episode.
