The diagnosis of life-threatening illness can drastically change our lives. In the whirlwind of burdensome medical problems, our other physical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs can become lost. Palliative care is all about caring for a person as an individual in face of such an illness. Such care is very much needed as well - 90% of us will die from a chronic disease. Unfortunately but understandably, there is much fear and misconception surrounding this important practice. In this episode, Dr. José Pereira beautifully explains what palliative care is truly about, and where it should go in the future.
