Dr. Lahab Al-Samarrai interviews Jane Litsey who will be graduating as a naturopathic doctor from Bastyr University in June of 2020. Her vision for future practice is a to be a doctor who sits at the confluence of Mind-Body-Spirit and who respects the ever changing dynamics between the three. She hopes to bring awareness that the psyche of a patient is directly influencing the physiology of the body and the physiology of the body is directly influencing the psyche of the patient. The worlds of mind and body inside us are communicating – not separate. She hopes to be a voice in the external community connecting psychologists (mind) with the medical doctors (body) to serve patients in their wholeness better. Her philosophy of medicine is that disease is a sign not to be silenced or eradicated, but a message to be listened to and understood. She hopes to open minds to the potential that disease can be a powerful teacher that has arrived to point us home to self-understanding and a fuller more complete embodiment of self. She sees this is as the journey of healing and life.
Jane also has a degree in human physiology from the University of Colorado and has special interests in autoimmunity, psycho-neuro-immunology, neuroscience, dance, and embodiment and is on her own quest for self-understanding. You can find more of her ideas and work on her website JaneLitsey.com. She will be practicing medicine somewhere in Seattle this fall
