Elliott Smith was one of the great songwriters of the late 20th Century. That he received such well-deserved mainstream recognition of his talent through breakthrough songs like ‘Between The Bars’ and ‘Miss Misery’ and albums XO and Figure 8 feels like some justice. But that he left us so early in his life and career remains as heartbreaking as the saddest of his songs.
