Wasilah is a Syrian refugee from Daraa who sought asylum in Ramtha, north of Jordan, three years ago. She started suffering from high blood pressure due to worrying about her children, who remained in Syria. Wasilah receives medical care in a clinic for non-communicable diseases run by Médecins Sans Frontières in Ramtha. Though her medical condition is not acute, she, like other refugees, especially those separated from their children and families, is more likely to suffer the complications of chronic illnesses. What does health mean to Wasilah when she misses her children every day? Can she lessen her “grief”, as the doctors recommend?
