Andrew J. Peters, LCSW, is the Director of Social Work programs at Adelphi University's Manhattan Center. He is also an adjunct professor teaching generalist practice, group work, and oppression and diversity. 


He talks about Racial Injustice and Healthcare Disparities related to  the pandemic.  Prof. Peters educates listeners to why Social Workers are "Essential", and what their commitment is to assisting those in need.  


Prior to Adelphi, Andrew worked for 18 years at Long Island Crisis Center, starting as a front line social worker and later serving as a clinical supervisor, program director and the associate executive director. During his tenure, he developed Pride for Youth, a matrix of health and wellness services for Long Island's LGBTQ+ young adults, and a street outreach project providing shelter and services to runaway and homeless youth. He has overseen school-based services, participatory research, legislative advocacy, educational theater, and EBP group and community interventions, and he formerly served on Nassau County's HIV Commission.
