Dan Shaughnessy from the Boston Globe on how Mac Jones has operated under Bill Belichick's offense. Why this era of Patriots football is more exciting?  Who the fans blame with Tom Brady being let go?

Dan Shaughnessy’s anticipated upcoming NBA memoir Wish It Lasted Forever which will be released nationally on Tuesday, November 16.  Early reviewers have called Shaughnessy’s book the literary equivalent of the acclaimed ESPN documentary The Last Dance.

Wish It Lasted Forever is partly a memoir that focuses on the bygone NBA era of the 1970’s and 1980’s that now seems long ago before newspaper reporting gave way to today’s ecosphere of player tweets, team-controlled websites and limited player access. The book recalls a different time when sportswriters traveled and broke bread with the teams they covered, shot hoops with the players during warm-ups and filed stories on a given day that could actually impact who was on the court the next day.  And of course, Shaughnessy’s NBA memoir also encompasses his years as the Boston Globe beat writer covering the NBA champion Larry Bird-era Celtics that included big personalities like team president/legend Red Auerbach, Kevin McHale and Bill Walton plus all of the larger-than-life NBA stars of that era such as Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and many more.

In his 32nd year as the sports columnist for The Boston Globe, Dan Shaughnessy is one of the nation’s most respected and honored sports columnists.  He has been voted as one of America’s top ten sports columnists 12 times and he is a 14-time recipient of the Massachusetts Sportswriter of the Year.  Shaughnessy received perhaps his highest honor when he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016 as the recipient of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award.  After spending four years covering the Orioles in both Baltimore and Washington (1977-81), Shaughnessy worked as The Boston Globe beat writer for the Celtics and Red Sox before becoming the newspaper’s sports columnist in 1989.  Wish It Lasted Forever is his 13th book---previous works included the New York Times bestseller Francona and The Curse of the Bambino.?
