In Episode 5 of the Kiwi and the Emu, we go to Western Australia and see how Nicki Muir and Arthur Pirika are getting on with the regional restrictions placed on West Australians. Not only does the larges state in the Commonwealth of Australia have its border closed to the rest of the country, at one stage during the Coronavirus crisis that state was divided into 9 regions. Nicki talks about not being able to see her mother, not being able to go shopping for clothing after surgery and how they both are coping being totally blind and doing the supermarket shopping when deliveries were affected.


They also discuss how Western Australia is protecting the various indigenous communities with in that state.


In the casual section near the end of this episode, we discuss everything from radio, social distancing, China, jobs, the economy and how the world in general is affected.


Carolyn Peat from Auckland New Zealand and Elise Lonsdale from Melbourne Australia interview blind and low vision guests about how the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated lockdowns across Australia and New Zealand are affecting people who are blind or have low vision.
