The KYW Newsradio All-Local for Monday, Dec. 11, 2023 (Midday Edition):

  • President Joe Biden is in Philadelphia on Monday, making two stops. One is an event celebrating a federal grant that pays for three fire houses, decommissioned nearly 15 years ago, to be re-opened. The other is a campaign fundraiser.

  • Fire ripped through a rowhome in North Philadelphia, killing a man and sending a woman to the hospital. It started around 12:15 a.m. Monday in a home near the intersection of North 12th and West Oxford streets.

  • Penn's board of trustees has named Julie Platt interim chair. Platt is the board's vice chair. She takes over for Scott Bok, who resigned shortly after Liz Magill announced she would step down as school president.

  • State and religious leaders in Pennsylvania joined together for a rally against antisemitism Sunday in Philadelphia.

  • Philadelphia City Council will meet for the final session of its four-year term on Thursday, with a heavy agenda. Among the bills up for a vote is a first-of-its kind measure that would bar hospitals from returning undocumented patients to their home countries without express consent.
