The KYW Newsradio All-Local - July 6, 2023 (Evening Editon):

  • The Pennsylvania House has approved the main budget bill, but it’s not clear what will happen next. Gov. Josh Shapiro has kicked a hornets’ nest by supporting, then backing away from, a controversial school vouchers plan. Senate Republicans are stinging mad, but Shapiro pins the blame on their party's unwillingness to consider House Democrats' priorities.

  • UPS workers edge closer to strike as negotiations on a new contract have broken down. Failure to finalize a deal by the end of the month could result in the largest U.S. labor strike since the 1950s, jeopardizing millions of daily deliveries.

  • The city of Philadelphia is suing the two largest suppliers of parts for ghost guns —weapons that can’t be traced because they’re assembled by the user and have no serial numbers. Police have seen a steep rise in the number of ghost guns used in crimes — including the mass shooting in Kingsessing.

  • One of Delaware County’s oldest bridges reopened on Thursday, representing a new turn for bridge infrastructure in the county, which has more bridge improvements on the way.
