The Impossible Box.

“I Borg”—the acclaimed episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation that aired in May 1992—introduced Hugh, the first individual we see who has been liberated from the Borg Collective. After two more appearances in the series, Hugh has returned almost three decades later in Star Trek: Picard as the executive director of the Borg Reclamation Project. In “The Impossible Box,” Picard and Hugh have an emotional reunion amid the major storylines of Picard’s quest to find Soji—all while the intrigue aboard the Artifact finally leads to dramatic results.

In this episode of The Line, hosts Brandon-Shea Mutala, Justin Oser, and Chrissie De Clerck-Szilagyi discuss the sixth episode of Star Trek: Picard, “The Impossible Box.” We explore the long-awaited meeting of Picard and Hugh, the deep friendship between Raffi and Rios, and the sudden turn in Soji and Narek’s interaction. We also talk about the flaws we seem to be seeing in Picard himself, more about life aboard La Sirena, and Picard finding Soji after half a season of searching. We also share our predictions for upcoming episodes.
