The first of our re-air episodes for the holidays. We hope you safely get some waves where ever you are!
WSL founder and Sunset Beach local Randy Rarick talks about the early days of the Championship Tour, getting started in 1976, the very first contest on the North Shore, crowning Peter Townend as the first World Champion, and how he got into the administrative side of pro surfing. He dives into his personal story, from growing up in Hawaii to learning to surf from Rabbit Kekai, his biggest influences as a surfer, and shaping his own surfboards. He also talks all things Sunset, including his thoughts about the wave as a stop on the Championship Tour, how the greats left their mark on Sunset, and the shift to Pipeline as “The Place.” In the first “Top 5” segment of the podcast, Randy gives his top five moments of North Shore lore. Find us on twitter: @thelineuppod
