In this episode I talk a little bit about NFTs, blockchain, cryptos and the metaverse.

 

Speaking of the metaverse gives us a chance to think about the nature of reality.

 

They really going big to get people to flex in the metaverse.

 

The NFT flex is like the rolex-flex.

 

People scoffing at this not being real comes down to philosophy.

 

How real is a Rolex?

 

- You can wear it

- You can touch it

- You can show off your status

 

Cool, but what happens to it when you die?

 

It stays in this simulation called earth, whereas your soul takes on its true form and experiences a different reality.

 

When in the metaverse, with an NFT:

 

- You can wear it

- You can touch it

- You can show off your status

 

Cool, but what happens to it when you die (or switch off)?

 

It stays in the simulation called metaverse, whereas you continue on with your true form and experience a different reality.

 

How many people truly care about the reality that is the afterlife?!

 

That’s how many people will care about the reality outside the metaverse.

 

I don’t like it. I don’t agree with it.

 

I do, however, accept that this is the future we’re heading in.

 

One thing I appreciate about the metaverse though, is it really makes you question the nature of reality.

 

Imagine the tech is pristine and complete.

 

Children grow up in the metaverse.

 

In time, everyone in existence grows up in the metaverse.

 

They know of no other reality until they reach adulthood.

 

They’ve never experienced anything outside the metaverse.

 

Then they meet a crazy conspiracy theorist who starts telling them this isn’t real, it’s an illusion, it’s a simulation, there’s another world out there being hidden from you…

 

…how do you think those people will react?!

 

Mocking? Derision? Laughter? Anger?

 

How do you react now if someone tells you you’re being manipulated to believe in an illusory reality that’s keeping you enslaved and subservient without you realising?!

 

How do you react when someone tells you to not care so much about the glitz and the glamour of this world because it’s a fleeting illusion, and focus your energy on trying to make it in the afterlife instead?!
