Are we living in a healthy system? - Tom Rippin CEO, On Purpose - a podcast by Team Earth Heroes

How can we translate amazing ideas like the circular economy, economy for the common goods, etc. into our economical system.

Before we go in the details of the podcast let me tell you what Tom is doing:

He finances professionals & gives highly skilled people working in vibrant environments, to quit their job and join a 1-year program working in companies that are working for a healthy system & find their purpose.

Tom starts to help us to understand our global economy from a systemic perspective with an amazing analogy about the human body.

Usually, such analogies are pretty brought and sound nice BUT I believe Tom found a really useful one to get a good understanding of what is going on on our planet.

having a look at what a healthy system is looking like we all can look at these attributes and challenge ourselves if we are working towards such a healthy system and if we find it desirable. Tom's view of a healthy system:

- distribute resources equally

- resources get reused multiple times

- tend to balance and not maximize either efficiency or resilience

When we have a look at the attributes of a healthy system, it looks like a system a lot of us are working for. Talking about a common vision Tom brings up a pretty interesting thought. He hopes that the SDG's even when they have served the movement towards a better life for all of us, that we are not missing the deeper conversation we as a species have to have. As Michael Braungart says "When you make the wrong things perfect, they are perfectly wrong".
