Furious Port Adelaide chairman David Koch said after the game that “players who were happy being in the AFL rather than striving to win a premiership had no place at the club.” Strong words from the bloke who I still look at as a finance reporter for the evening news and has no place on breakfast television.

- And in a stunning surprise, fans of NRL clubs eliminated in the first week of the finals all blame the refs. Sure, there were some decisions dodgier than Lance Armstrong in there, though let’s be honest folks… if your team was any good, they a- wouldn’t have been playing in an elimination final and b- would still be good enough to beat the opposition because the same referees with the same 50/50 decisions come out every single week. Unless you’re a storm supporter, because I’m not sure any of this applies to Cameron Smith.
