Kotlow part 2, if you missed part 1 you better go back and listen. He is back to share all his knowledge nuggets about practical and realistic aftercare for infant tongue tie releases also known as frenectomy. We often hear in the Facebook groups that they were told no stretching, 6 times a day, 1 week only, etc. Everyone has differing opinions or will blame you for not doing the stretches and that is why the baby is still struggling. If you feel like you want some clear guidance and tutorials, this is for you and please share!

The basics are: get the baby’s head in your lap, legs away from you, lift the cheeks up 3 times, lip up to the nose 3 times, and hold the lower jaw and lift the tongue to separate the diamond shaped wound. Dr Kotlow describes the frenectomy wound so well, it is a sticky wound, like fly paper, so you must separate it at least 3 times a day to keep it from reattaching. He also has done thousands of these procedures and came up with a soft tool for parents to quickly and easily get in there to do the dreaded tongue stretches. We love Dr Kotlow for his realistic approach and meeting people where they are at.
