Getting double jaw surgery: Seini's choice. - a podcast by kimi nishimoto

Seini went through a lot to get here. From severe chronic ear pain, hearing loss, nasty headaches and tension, and severe TMJ problems. Seini has agreed to share her personal story about how she ended up getting MMA also known as double jaw surgery with Dr Kevin Coppelson. You may have seen her before and after pictures, she isn't just a poster-child, she is a MMA MODEL. Seini had a LeFort, Osteotomy, and genioplasty, and reconstruction of her joint. 

Seini had a tiny little chin since childhood, Dr Coppelson figured out it was arthritis when she was a child that was why developed the retrognathia or retruded jaw. Her small bone structure and damage in the TMJ joint led to a life of chronic ear problems, and debilitating pain daily. She made the decision to research what she could do to improve her life and pain. This led her to myofunctional therapy, being told that her only real long term solution would be jaw surgery and other things would be temporary band aids. Seini went through ortho to get her teeth in position for surgery, surgery, and then months of healing. She had to relearn how to chew and swallow since all the muscles had to be cut and heal back together. It was intense!
