A real patient interview with Jennifer after she finished therapy 2 years ago. She tells her story of having a tongue thrust as a kid, having braces and never really knowing her tongue was meant to have a home in the palate. She had to get allergy shots, mouth breathed, low tongue posture, and tongue thrust. As she got older the low tongue posture and tongue thrust led to chronic daily headaches with no source on mri and tests. She went to an orthodontist to check her bite and he told her that the bite was off and she had a tongue thrust that had flared her teeth out. And if she didn’t fix it the braces weren’t going to work. He gave her a peppermint and told her to hold it to her palate. Of course that didn’t work and she read about tongue thrust therapy and found Megan! “Holding a peppermint to the roof of your mouth isn’t going to cut it!” Was our favorite quote. Jennifer also has sleep apnea and digestive problems due to the mouth breathing. She is a firecracker and we love her vibe. She wants to knock down every doctor office door and preach to the world about myofunctional therapy being the body’s way to heal!
