Race relations are heavily discussed in modern American politics.  In academia and media alike, Republicans are depicted as racist while Democrats are hailed as the party of racial minorities.  However, an analysis of history shows that the Democrats were the party of racism, while Republicans were the party of equality.  Nevertheless, it is frequently taught that the parties switched in the mid-twentieth century by means of a “Southern Strategy” orchestrated by the Republican party.  The historical myth of the Southern Strategy, as well as the current policies on race promoted by both political parties, is explored in this episode of The Ned Ryun Podcast.
