Aired on April 25, 2021

Doug and Drew looked into our Avgeek cyrstal ball a year ago and forecast that we’d be at 75% of 2019 capacity by the summer of 2020. American Airlines announced that they would be at 80% this summer so we were close! Not so much on our forecast of travel bubbles which look to be overtaken by “Green” destinations.

Topics covered:

  • EVA Air repaints its Hello Kitty 777-300 back to normal
  • Aer Lingus flew leased 757’s which were another casualty of COVID19
  • Would you pay for extra legroom?
  • Virgin Atlantic predicts they will resume all flights by November
  • Southwest and American say leisure travel is rebounding
  • We talk about how to get a job in the airlines

We finish the episode with an update on our Alaska trip, Northern fLights. Agenda below:

08MAY

  • 830a - depart SEA on Alaska Airlines flight 65
  • 415p - arrive ANC (We’ll be staying at the Captain Cook Hotel)
  • 630p - Meet up at Moose Tooth Pub and & Pizzeria and then spotting at ANC

09MAY

  • Currently open but we’re planning on spotting, with breaks, until at least midnight

10MAY

  • AM free for meet ups and more spotting before departing for ANC at 5pm
