The hosts are getting better after an awful start to their campaign, picking up just 6 points in their opening 12 matches.   The second contest sees league leaders Palmeiras take on Fluminense. Palmeiras are the leaders and top goal scorers in the competition after suffering just two defeat this season and 7 straight wins. America-MG, on the other hand, are 9th after their defeat to Gremio last time out.  Former Copa Libertadores winners Atletico Mineiro will be the favorites to continue their title challenge when they face Bahia. Meanwhile, there's a classic at the Maracana as Flamengo host Sao Paulo with neither hitting top form in the first third of the season.  Two teams that have surprised many this campaign are Fortaleza and Bragantino. This clash sees the best defensive record take on the best defensive record. Elsewhere, continental competitions could be a distraction for both Atletico and International. The hosts have failed to win any of their last 3 league games, whilst International have recently ended their five game winless run.  Sleeping giants Santos need to wake up from their 10th spot in the division. They just have the solitary win in their last five games as they take on Atletico Goianiense. Ceara will be looking to continue their impressive form when they travel to Sport Recife - they’ve been beaten just twice so far.  Our penultimate game of this Brazilian preview sees Juventude take on Chapecoense. The host will be aiming to bag another vital win against their desperate opponents having just won 3 games all season.
