Will this weekend’s results prove significant in deciding who will win the Bundesliga? Only time will tell, so let’s get into it.  What a weekend of football we saw on Matchday 11! Lucien Favre sacked by Borussia Dortmund after their 5-1 thumping by Stuttgart. Leverkusen move to the top of the table. Union hold off Bayern to grab a point! Cologne move three points clear at the bottom. Schalke don’t win. Oh, wait…  This week’s action begins on Tuesday. Lucky us. We’ve got four matches to get out teeth sunk into. It starts in Frankfurt, as Eintracht entertain Borussia Monchengladbach, fresh from their Champions League qualification from Group B – coined the Group of Death.   Last weekend’s big winners, Stuttgart, face another of last weekend’s success stories, Union Berlin. Both clubs have stunned the German top-flight in 2020, with the clubs sitting sixth and seventh in the standings.   Borussia Dortmund will be eager to bounce back from their humiliating defeat last time out. A result that ultimately ended Favre’s reign as BVB boss. The Black and Yellow have the players to mount a serious title challenge, but are languishing down in fifth, six points off top spot. In a season where Bayern aren’t running away with it, Dortmund must strike.   Tuesday’s action is rounded off by Mainz’s trip to the capital to face Hertha, whom held Gladbach to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.  Into Wednesday, bottom side Schalke will again go in search of a win. It’s getting quite boring expecting the Gelsenkirchen side to break their torrid run. It’s the second-longest winless streak in the history of the Bundesliga. Surely they can’t top Tasmania 31-game winless run? A record that no-one wants to see broken.    Julien Nagelsmann’s RB Leipzig will also be challenging for top spot this year. They go to Hoffenheim on Wednesday evening. Their fiercest challengers, and title defenders, Bayern Munich host surprise-package Wolfsburg at the same kick-off time. Elsewhere, Arminia Bielefeld host Augsburg, and table toppers Leverkusen travel to Cologne.
