Champions League Matchday 3 has arrived! We’ve already seen some stunning goals, performances and results in this year’s competition, and we’re not even halfway through the group stage yet! So here we are, we’re back for more of Europe’s premier club competition, with some of the world’s best sides in action on Tuesday night. So who’s playing?  The early kick-off sees two sides who have done a great job in Europe so far, with Ukrainian champions Shakhtar hosting German side Monchengladbach. At the same time in Russia, Lokomotiv Moscow will look to stave off the threat of Atletico Madrid. They did a decent job of subduing the current holders Bayern last time out, but can they hold off Diego Simeone’s side?  

Elsewhere, the Bavarians are again on their travels, as they take a short trip to Austria to play RB Salzburg, Man City welcome Olympiacos to the Etihad, and Marseille and Porto face-off in what could prove to be a potential decider for a second-place finish in Group C.  Over in Italy, Gasperini’s hot-shot Atalanta side meet Klopp’s battling Reds. That will be spectacular game for the neutrals, there is no doubt, with or without Virgil van Dijk. The other two clubs in Group D, Midtjylland and Ajax also go head-to-head in Denmark. The 2018/19 semi-finalists will be desperate to secure maximum points in order to keep their Champions League hopes alive.  

But the big tie of Matchday 3 on Tuesday sees last year’s Europa League semi-finalists Inter Milan travel to the Spanish capital to take on Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid. It’s a heavyweight clash however you look at it. The clubs sit third and fourth in Group B after some early surprises, which means this is a must-win game for both teams.
