Champions League predictions, picks and betting tips for Wednesday Matchday 5. Real Madrid will be aiming to leapfrog Gladbach at the top of Group B when they head to the Donbass Arena to take on Shakhtar Donestsk. Zinedine Zidane’s men are second in the table, just a single point behind the German outfit. Borussia, meanwhile, take on Inter with the Italians scrambling to keep their European adventure alive for another season.

Lokomotiv Moscow could pull off the shock of the year this season should they they secure qualification from Group A. The Russians, still without a win, take on bottom-of-the-table Salzburg. A win would lift them into second spot over Atletico with one game to go, should Diego Simeone’s men fail to secure any points against Champions League holders Bayern.

Manchester City and Porto have made light work of dispatching their opponents in Group C. Pep’s side have conceded just once in their four wins this season, as the two sides prepare to meet at the Dragao on Tuesday night. In contrast, another defeat for Marseille by Olympiacos will set a new record of most consecutive Champions League defeats (13). Ouch.

Midtjylland’s woeful showing in Group D has seen the top three bunch at the top, with Liverpool, Ajax and Atalanta separated by just two points with two games yet to play. The Reds currently hold the advantage at the top. Qualification will likely be decided on the final Matchday, when Ajax and Atalanta meet in the winner-takes-all clash at the AmsterdamArena.
