So, here we are then. It’s come down to this. The game England probably expected. The game England probably didn’t want. The game England will probably lose. England’s formula World Cup Golden Boot winner Gary Lineker once famously said: “Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win.”  and how right he really is! Because despite the frailties of this German side, they proved that on the day they can get it very right as we saw in that tumultuous clash with Portugal last weekend. Having said that, we’ve also seen the very worse of Germany at the tournament, resulting in them dropping points against Group F underdogs hungry. That’s something that very few expected to happen at the pre-tournament outset

Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions have stuttered through the group stage. Despite topping Group D, they’ve only really played well for about 30 minutes in their opening game against Croatia. We certainly saw the very worst of Southgate’s England in the clash with Scotland. It was a game bult up to be a true classic between the Old Enemies, but in truth it was probably the worst game of this year’s European Championships. If Harry Kane and Co. perform like that against Germany on Tuesday it’s very likely that this pre- tournament second-favourite will be going home in the first knockout stage for a second Euros running. Don’t expect fireworks in this fixture, it’s likely to be a very gritty, tough game and Germany will probably win on penalties, as they always do
