It’s finally here. Third Round of the FA Cup. It’s one of the best days on the Englsh football calendar and it has finally arrived. Icons vs minnows. Legends vs nobodies. Pros vs Posties. It’s bitterly cold out there right now, and these games are perfect for keeping us inside and glued to our TV screens and streaming sites. Welcome to the FA Cup 3rd Round; it’s going to be a wild ride.

There’s actually 32 FA Cup games in this round of fixtures, however, we will be focusing on the 10 most interesting games. We do out best, alright?  First, it’s Liverpool’s trip to Aston Villa. There’s news flying around that this game could be postponed due to a Coronavirus outbreak at Villa’s training ground. Either way, the Reds haven’t won three games on the bounce since they thrashed Crystal Palace, and Tom reckons they could suffer further pain in the cup.

Game 2 involves the team from the blue side of Liverpool, Everton. The Toffees have regained their form and are once again looking string under Carlo Ancelotti. They haven’t had much luck in recent years in the cup, however, Rotherham don’t look like they’re up for this one. They’re 23rd in the Championship, with one win and nine and properly struggling.

Cup holders Arsenal are at home to Premier League opposition in their first foray into the FA Cup, as they welcome Newcastle to the capital. Mikel Arteta’s could drop some of his first-team players for this one, ironically meaning that more experienced players could be named in the starting XI against Steve Bruce’s men.

Man Utd play Watford at Old Trafford. They’ve won the FA Cup on 12 occasions, their last arriving in 2016. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are second in the Premier League, whilst the Hornets currently sit 6th in the division below. We wonder if Donny van de Beek might get a run-out for this one?

Everyone’s favourite manager Marcelo Bielsa probably hasn’t been to Crawley in his life. But this weekend he will visit The People’s Pension Stadium with his Leeds United side. Crawley have beaten Torquay and Wimbledon to get to this stage and are currently 6th in League Two. Progression to the next stage could be a step too far for John Yems’ side.

We can’t stop cracking ‘Morecambe & Wise’ puns, and we won’t be stopped either. Morecambe, 7th in League Two, go to Stamford Bridge to face a Chelsea side under serious scrutiny. Frank Lampard’s men have just one win from their last seven games – but they have won this competition eight times, so history is on their side. The stand-out tie of the round is Tottenham’s trip to non-league Marine. We can’t wait to see Jose, Kane, Son, and all their other world-class talent galloping across a semi-pro field. Could this be the greatest FA Cup shock of all time? We’ll have to wait and see.
