It’s Matchday 13 of the 2020/21 campaign!

We begin our Liga preview on Friday night with a humdinger of a relegation scrap, as 19th placed Real Valladolid play 18th placed Osasuna. We’re only 12 games into the season, but a win for either of these sides *should* help them introduce a three-point gap to the drop zone. It’ll be tense, it’ll be nervy. We can’t wait for it.  Into Saturday, and we start the action with two Liga icons going head-to-head. Valencia and Athletic Bibao have both been struggling to find rhythm this season and sit side by side in 13th and 14th respectively. Later, Getafe host Sevilla and then bottom-side Huesca face Alaves.

Saturday ends in spectacular fashion with the match of the weekend, with the Madrid derby at Valdebebas. This is Atletico’s big chance to really make a claim for the Primera title. A win for Diego Simeone’s men would extend their lead at the top of the table and severely dent their closest rivals’ chances. It would also extend the gap to Zizou & Co. to nine points. A huge gap to make up.

Real Sociedad take to the field on Sunday, when they play Basque Country rivals Eibar in the early afternoon kick-off. Sociedad are still fourth in the standings but have drawn their previous two matches in La Liga. Real Betis then play Villarreal and Elche are at home to Granada.  Ronald Koeman’s languishing Barca round out the weekend’s fixtures on Sunday evening when Levante come to the Camp Nou.

The Blaugrana currently sit 9th in the table, having won just four of their 10 league games this season. It has been another frustrating week for Barcelona, having lost top spot in the Champions League in the round of fixtures, losing 3-0 at home to a Cristiano Ronaldo inspired Juventus leapfrogged them.   On Monday, our final match sees Cadiz go on their travels to northern Spain to take on Celta Vigo. Cadiz are not good travellers, as their form has shown, but the odds on the Yellow Submarine look very tempting.
