It’s Matchday 16 of the 2020/21 campaign, so let’s get involved.  It’s Christmas! And that can only mean one thing: lots and lots of Spanish football for us to enjoy. We start on the Sanchez-Pizjuan with Sevilla’s match against Villarreal. Julen Lopetegui’s side have won three of their last four in the league and ae up to sixth. They’ve only scored 15 goals in 13 games and they now face a Villarreal side currently in fourth folloing a fine start to the campaign.   Barcelona continue the festivities. The Blaugrana are at home to Eibar and are now much closer to the leading pack after a four-game unbeaten run that includes three wins. Eibar, meanwhile, are down in 15th.   Afterwards on Tuesday night, we’ve got Cadiz against Real Valladolid. Cadiz will be eager to end 2020 on a high to cement a wonderful calendar year for the Yellow Submarine. Following promotion this summer, they now sit 10th in the Primera. Valladolid are in the bottom three, but a win here could move them up to 10th themselves! At the same time we also have Levante facing Real Betis.  Into Wednesday’s match action, and we start with Granada against Valencia. The Andalusian’s are 7th in the standings after back-to-back victories, whilst Javi Gracia’s side are down in 13th with just 15 points to their name. Los Che have not won a league game since beating Real Madrid and have just one win in 11 La Liga matches. Ouch.  Leaders Atletico Madrid are also playing on Wednesday. Diego Simeone’s men play host to Madrid’s little brother Getafe at the Wanda. Atletico have a superb head-to-head record against their inner-city rivals and will be keen to glean all three points to secure their position at the summit until the start of the new year.  Celta Vigo have hit fine form under new boss Eduardo Coudet, having won four league games on the bounce to lift the northerners into 8th position and now have their eyes set on European qualification. They face La Liga’s bottom club Huesca. Later that evening, the defending champions take to the field, as Real Madrid travel to play Elche. Zinedine Zidane’s men have also won four games in succession and currently sit three points off top spot having played an extra game.  We go into New Year’s Eve with two matches to look forward to. The first is a Basque derby, as Atheltic Bilbao host out of form Real Sociedad, before Osasuna welcome Alaves to Pamplona.   It’s a busy one, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!  Eduardo Siles is once again in the hot seat for our Odds On: La Liga betting preview show. He is again joined by compatriot and amigo Alvaro Romeo to discuss all things Spanish football. They’re getting so competitive with their tips it’s like having Cristiano and Messi back together. They’re here to analyse, preview and dissect La Liga’s Matchday 16 action.   For all the latest La Liga odds ahead of this year’s finals, head to http://oddspedia.com/football where you’ll find everything you need to secure your best bet.   And don’t forget to check our betting tools to discover Sure Bets, Dropping Odds, Value Bets, Blocked Odds and Blocked Matches to give you the upper hand this weekend.
