This is an audio version of our YouTube video. La Liga predictions & betting tips on Matchday 18.  The action, as always, starts on Friday night. And this one should be a great way to kick-start your first weekend back in January. Unai Emery’s Villarreal head north to face Celta Vigo in a game between two sides battling for European qualification. The Yellow Submarine are up in fourth, whilst Celta’s charge up the table came to a halt last time out with defeat to Real Madrid.  Into Saturday, and we have another corker to start us off. This time its Sevilla at home to Real Sociedad. The Andalusians are currently fifth in the table, having lost just one of their last nine league games following a poor start to the campaign. Their rivals, meanwhile, remain third in the league but are being hunted down by those closely behind them in the standings.   Atletico Madrid will be keen to maintain their lead at the top of the table when Athletic Bilbao arrive at the Wanda. Diego Simeone’s men are on a four-game winning run, whilst their Basque opponents lie down in ninth. Atleti have conceded just six games in La Liga so far, whilst Bilbao have scored just 19 in 17 games.  In the afternoon kick-off, Barcelona travel to Granada aiming to right their wrongs of previous away days. Barca’s away from has been extremely disappointing in 2020/21, with as many defeats as wins on the road. This could prove to be another pivotal game in the eventual title race.   We finish on Saturday with Real Madrid’s trip to Pamplona to play Osasuna. Zinedine Zidane’s men remain two points off top spot, but they’ve also played two games more than their closest rivals at the summit, Atletico. Osasuna are second-bottom, but a win at home to the reigning champions would move them out of danger, so they’ll be keen to pull a surprise.  Sunday’s Spanish soccer starts in sunny Valencia, as Levante take on Eibar. Both these sides actually haven’t been performing too poorly this year and currently find themselves situated 13th and 12th respectively. There’s much more to come from both sides this season, and this game could be the catalyst to bigger and better things in the coming months.  Afterwards, we have Cadiz at home to Alaves. Alaves have had some tricky training conditions this past week, forcing them to train elsewhere. Could this prove to be their undoing when they head south to Ramon de Carranza? Cadiz’s early season form has really dropped off, and they have won just one of their last nine league games.  Another side who are in real danger of going down are a more illustrious team. Javi Gracia’s Valencia just cannot find their feet following an off-season of turmoil. The Mestalla club are 17th in the table having recorded just three wins all year. This time out they go to Real Valladolid in search of three points (and glory).  The final game of the weekend will be played on Monday evening between rock-bottom Huesca and Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis. The Seville side haven’t impressed many this year, and currently sit down in 11th. Their opponents, on the other hand, haven’t impressed anyone – and have just one win to their name. They do, however, have more draws than any team in the league. So they’re sort of winning on that front.
