Our man Patrick is back from the North American Handmade Bicycle Show and has stories to tell. As chief judge he, with the help of fellow judges Tom Kellogg (yes, that Tom Kellogg of Spectrum Cycles) and veteran mechanic to the stars, Merlyn Townley, inspected more than 100 different submissions for the awards. He talks about the bike that won Best in Show and asks Fatty and Hottie their thoughts on the intersection between "Best" and bikes. Fatty has a thing for words. And bikes. The boys talk about their favorite cycling lingo and just how universal a term like "crab," "scorpion" or "auger" is. Hottie sat down with former Road Bike Action editor Neil Shirley to talk about a document he recently wrote which is being referred to as the ISGG, that is the International Standards for Gravel Griding. It's a tongue-in-cheek title, but it's a for-real consideration of what sort of equipment you need to select based on the event you plan to ride.
