The Australian Federal Police conducted two raids on the ABC and News Corp journalist Annika Smethurst this week, starting a huge debate about the public's right to know.

The Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the Government is "absolutely committed to press freedom" but that "no one is above the law".

Although, fears remain that the raids will create a chilling effect for whistle blowers, who may think twice before risking their freedom by coming forward.

Meanwhile, Kristina Keneally is positioned to take on Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton, and Australia's economy has slowed to levels last seen during the global financial crisis.

Shane Wright is the senior economics correspondent for The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald, he joined Fran and PK on The Party Room.
