Surfactants Work By Overcoming Surface Tension
In order to understand how adjuvants work, we need to understand how water works.
Each droplet of water has a negative and a positive charge. Water droplets act a lot like a magnet. If you put several water molecules together the positive and negative forces attract each other creating surface tension.
The components of a Adjuvans molecule help break water surface tension, allowing the pesticide to be more evenly dispersed on a surface and to reach its target.
When water molecules come into contact with unlike substances two thing happen.
If the substances have a similar charge, the two forces repel each others.
If they have different charges, the two forces will attract each other.
Anionic Surfactant
Anionic surfactants possess a negative charge on their hydrophilic end.
