Postpartum Mental Health, Empowerment, and Rewriting your Narrative with Jackie Schoemaker Holmes, PhD - a podcast by Annie Hopkins, PT, RYT

Today I talk with Jackie about her experience with postpartum anxiety and depression: how it blindsided her after a blissful pregnancy, how she survived it, and how she had to learn to rewrite her own narrative to find her way as a mother. We talk about how motherhood is not a one-size-fits-all experience, and how she realized that she had to dismantle the Institution of Motherhood and rewrite the definition of Mother to include who she is. We also talk about grieving the loss of Self, harmful Pinterest-perfectionist standards, and the support needed to navigate early motherhood in a way that honors the mother’s journey.
