Jerry came bounding into the studio this morning, iPad in hand, excited to report that he has been re-reading Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein. In a nutshell, it’s a book about a human raised on Mars, by Martians and now he’s trying to adjust, on Earth to what it’s like to be human. See, Elton John said himself that Mars ain’t the kind of place to raise your kids! But I digress….

Naturally, we veered off the path of Stranger in a Strange Land, as we do, and launched into a rant against “deliberate obfuscation”, when people deliberately make things complicated and convoluted in order to hide the fact that “there’s no there there”. Our producer, Michael Clark coined a Latin phrase to sum this up: Articulatum Ad Infinitum.

Adding complexity to something does not equal adding value. So, in your life, how can you simplify your message?
