Sean Harper is the CEO and co-founder of Kin Insurance, the direct-to-consumer home insurance company for every new normal. Previously, Sean founded FeeFighters, a payments company bought by Groupon, and TSS-Radio, an eCommerce company that became an Inc. 500 fastest-growing company. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Sean was a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group and an investor at Longworth Venture Partners.

- Sean sees programming and business both as a way to make things. Luckily for Sean, he’s found a way to tie the two into each other and manages to use each to bolster each other.
- For his college application, Sean actually created a computer program that told the admissions office about himself and mailed it in to them on a burned CD.
- One of the major culture shocks for Sean, when he started his career at BCG, was lack of structure in the work he was doing. He quickly realized that if he didn’t know the answer to something, he would have to find the person that did and be willing to listen to them.
- Looking back, Sean would not have sold Fee Fighters so early. He would have rode it out further, but at that time his team was scared and decided to sell.
- Kin actually didn’t start as an insurance company, it started as a web portal to an actual insurance company. The deal didn’t work out, so they became their own insurance company.
