Since recording this episode, Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation. This pandemic is escalating quickly and we are not responding as fast as we should be. People are dying everyday and you never know who around you is vulnerable. Health care systems globally are at risk of collapsing. There are not enough ventilators to assist the number of people who are predicted to need one.

Take quarantine and self-isolation seriously. Social distance as much as possible. If you are someone who is healthy and would likely recover from the virus, you have a responsibility to stay home if you can. The lives of others are more important than a Saturday night drink or a tanning session at the beach. Don’t be a dickhead. Feeling for those who don’t have the means to be tested. Please understand the symptoms of the virus and how the virus spreads. Support each other. Don’t be racist. Sending love to listeners all around the world. Take care and stay safe<3

In this episode, I chat with Kevin and Mana about racial fetishisation from the perspective of East Asian Australians. We discuss interracial dating, submissiveness, beauty standards, embracing your culture, creepy men and the dangers of reducing a race to a staple food. The Subtlety of It is recorded and produced on the stolen land of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation. I would like to pay my respect to the Ancestors who protect this sacred land and live and speak through community members. I would like to also pay my respect to Elders and community members who are the ongoing custodians of this land and pass on knowledge of Country and the beauty of their cultures through generations. Sovereignty was never ceded. This land always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
