ESPN announced that play-by-play broadcaster Beth Mowins and the newly hired Rex Ryan will call the late game, the Chargers and the Broncos, of its Monday Night Football doubleheader in week one of the 2017 NFL seaon..

 

Mowins is only the second woman to serve as the play-by-play voice of a network broadcast of a regular season NFL game..30 years ago Gayle Sierens, who worked for NBC Sports became the first woman to ever do play by play of a regular season NFL game when she called the December 27 game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Kansas City Chiefs.

 

It was her first and last ever play by play assignment but it is not the end of the story by any means. Sierens, would go on to become one of the most beloved, respected and honored news achors in Tampa Bay television history at WFLA TV Channel 8..
