The chilling effects of the Cold War bled over to cinema screens over the 4 decades and change of that part of human history. The adage of write what you know seems to be the case here as the film industry met the difficulties of the Cold War head on by blowing things up in spectacular fashion on screen in the name of geopolitical tension.
