Join me in this extra podcast where I share my ideas for some quick crops to grow now. This podcast is produced in light of the current circumstances we find ourselves in.

Quick crops to grow now.As this time of year is whats known as the hungry gap which is a period of time where very little food is available. But with some thinking outside the box and being creative we can come up with some quick and easy ideas for what we can grow and eat in a short amount of time. These include

Micro-greens ready in 7 to 10 daysCut and come again salad leaves ready in 21 to 28 daysRadish ready in 25 to 40 daysRocket ready in 30 daysSpinach ready in 30 days.Speedy carrots for the thinning ready in 60 daysAs you can see all these crops are ready in a very short time and I recommend that we make regular sowing of these. Micro-greens i'm sowing daily, salad leaves i'm sowing weekly and so on.

Micro-greensI have featured micro-greens quiet heavily because I genuinely believe that everybody can grow these in any space. The small space required means they can grow on windowsills if needed.

While seeds specifically for micro-greens are available i prefer to use out of date seeds or opened packets of seed. There's a wide variety of micro-green crops that could be used and they include

CressBasilCorianderFenugreek (methi)CabbagesLettuceBrussel sproutsSweetcornKaleMustardEndiveBeetrootTatsoiRadishWatercressMizunaPea shootBean shootsA tray a day will go a long way to feed us with fresh healthy food.
