As the Manchester International Festival opens we celebrate aritsts working across media and creating hybrid forms. Heather Phillipson is a poet and a visual artist whose work appears in the new exhibition at the festival created by Hans Ulrich Obrist & Lemn Sissay, 'Poet Slash Artist'. The author of 'Grief is the thing with Feathers' and Lanny, Max Porter has written a new film starring Cillian Murphy which will premier at MIF.

Paolo Chianta is the latest writer who has written us a short audio drama on the theme of 'Experiments in Living', in conjection with the BBC Writer's Room. 'Brighter Later' is directed by Lorna Newman.

Malaika Kegode is a performance poet who has found herself pushed into new territory through her work with Prog-Folk band Jakabol, resulting in their autobiographical theatre-gig 'Outlier'
