I recorded a podcast with Californian, Scott Hopkins, back in the summer. After the podcast (which was about his 30+ year career in teaching), we started to talk about his time covering San Diego sports in the 70's. He told a few stories about the great San Diego Chargers coach, Don "Air" Coryell and I just had to record and share them with my listeners.
One of the greatest offensive minds in the NFL, Don Coryell has roots that run deep in the San Diego community. One of the stories Mr. Hopkins tells actually involved a college in my home state of Mississippi (small world, huh?).
I hope that you enjoy his stories about San Diego sports, Coach Coryell, and how he not only influenced the NFL, but also had an impact on Hollywood (yes, you read that right).
