In this week’s podcast, Amer presents the following quote:

“If what we desire is not existent then we ought to desire what is existent. We should not choose the permanence of sorrow rather the permanence of happiness. And he

who is rendered sorrowful by the missing of things desired and the nonbeing of the nonexistent his sorrow will never come to an end because in every state of his life he

will be losing a loved things or missing a desired thing. Sorrow and happiness and are opposites that do not abide in the soul together.”

According to this statement from The British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, the fastest way to achieve happiness is to not only desire less but take the time to

appreciate the good in the present state of your life.

It seems the answer may be to build habits that you are happy to do that inherently make you into the person who is deserving of your goal.

Listeners, do you find yourself sacrificing opportunities we have in the moment for

potential gain in the future? Does this process truly make you happy?
